Demi Lovato: 'Music is my number one passion'

Demi Lovato has said that she plans to concentrate on music over acting in the coming year.

The teenager recently released her third studio album Unbroken, which has already spawned the chart-topping single 'Skyscraper', and is gearing up for a ten-date tour of the States launching in November.

Speaking to Parade, she said: "Over the next year, I just want to continue to tour and have fun with music. Acting will come second. Music is my number one passion and I want to stick to music for a while."

Lovato also told the website that she is "excited" about kicking off her tour, which begins in Detroit on November 16 and wraps in Chicago on December 3.

When asked about finding balance while on the road, she replied: "I'm in a much happier and healthier place now, so I'll be able to decide when I need time off. It's a different era in my career. I'm sure that if I need time off I'll be able to speak about it and I'll take a step back."

Lovato recently said that she has been "inspired" to continue creating music by the response to 'Skyscraper', which she wrote before seeking treatment for personal issues last year.

"After 'Skyscraper' was released I feel like it definitely opened by my audience a little bit," she said. "I was no longer just hearing from the younger demographic. I was hearing, 'That song inspired me and I'm a 45-year-old who has dealt with this issue' or 'I'm a 26-year-old girl who is struggling with issues'.

"It really inspired me even more to just continue to make music and everything because it took off and had its own journey and it was just incredible, I was really excited."
