Arista and Jive Records are no more

7.10.11

Arista Records and Jive Records are both to fall under the banner of RCA Records and no longer exist.

The legendary record labels have nurtured some of the biggest talents in music, with Arista being founded by music mogul Clive Davis and being home to acts such as Babyface, Usher and TLC. It’s partnerships with labels such as LaFace, Bad Boy and Star Trak also saw a whole new generation of artists including Notorious B.I.G, Toni Braxton, OutKast and Kelis to name a few.

As part of the plan to refresh RCA, these labels will now fall under the RCA umbrella and will no longer exist in their own right, however, COO of RCA, Tom Corson said they could come back further down the line.

I’m about to break out my 1990-2010 R&B playlist and pour out a little mineral water on the floor in memory.
