Victor Willis, who as a founding member of the Village People wrote and sang such chart-topping hits as "Macho Man" and "Y.M.C.A.," has filed a federal lawsuit claiming he's owed royalties, according to the New York Post.
Willis, who says he chose to dress as the cop in the '70s camp band to "keep order," departed the group in 1979. Last week Willis filed suit against Can't Stop Productions, which handles the rights to the band's songs, for $1.5 million. Stewart Levy, an attorney for Can't Stop Productions, called Willis's lawsuit "without merit."
